Study Abroad Application Instructions

The application process varies depending on your program of choice.  Please review the following options:

Partnership Programs, Metro London, & Internships – student must directly contact a study abroad advisor to begin the process.

  1. Request Approval from Office of International Studies to Study Abroad (must meet basic requirements)
  2. Complete MSU Denver’s Study Abroad Paperwork
  3. Apply directly to the program of choice (may only do so once approved by OIS)
  4. Attend a PreDeparture Orientation

Faculty-Led – student should directly contact the faculty involved. 

  1. Speak with Faculty in charge
  2. Complete MSU Denver Faculty-Led Application and Paperwork (some professor's use the online system, others don't)
  3. Attend necessary meetings
  4. Watch the Student Health & Safety Video (most faculty will show this at a meeting. If is also available for viewing in the Office)

 Applying for study abroad takes several steps.  Please review the directions below.

STEP 1
 If you would like to apply to a study abroad program, you need to be logged in to your account. You can then apply as follows:
 
Go to the interactive world map or the advanced search to find the country in which you are interested.
1) Scroll down towards bottom of page to find your specific program provider of choice
2) Click the "Apply" link next to the program name. This will link you to the MSU Denver application process for that specific program.
3) Complete the Approval for Study Abroad Application Form - you will see a link for Application Form (0/1). Click on that, and then complete the Approval Form. 

  * You DO NOT need to send the approval form. Just click "save" and exit your account. Once the Approval Form is complete, it is sent to the Office of International Studies for review.  The review process can take up to 72 hours.  Once you are approved, you will be notified via email.
 
STEP 2a
After being approved to study abroad, you will have to complete MSU Denver Enrollment Forms. You will only have access to these forms after being approved. Again, you will be emailed your approval and detailed instructions on how to complete the Enrollment Forms.

5)  Consortium Agreement
 6)  Student Health & Insurance Form

1)  Auraria Health form
2)  Release of Liability

3)  Auraria Campus - Emergency Notification
4)  Student Code of Conduct

5)  Participant Form
 
 
 

STEP 2b
After being approved to study abroad, you can directly apply to your program of choice.  After you are notified by the study abroad office that you have been "Approved" to study abroad, you will then need to click on the link to the specific program and follow the application instructions for the specific program provider or host institution.
